Need A Tooth Tattoo?

Tooth Tattoos: A Unique and Fun Way to Express Yourself

If you’re looking for a tooth tattoo, you’ve come to the right place! Tooth tattoos are a creative, private, and unique way to express yourself. Whether it’s a personal symbol, a hidden message, or just a cool story to share, a tooth tattoo lets you show it off—or hide it—whenever you choose.

Want to keep it discreet? No problem! A tooth tattoo can be placed on crowns in less visible areas, even when your mouth is open.

What Is a Tooth Tattoo?

A tooth tattoo is not ink applied directly to your natural teeth. Instead, the tattoo is designed on a dental crown—a custom cap placed over a damaged or prepared tooth. This allows for the design to be subtle, durable, and entirely customizable.

The best part? A well-made crown matches the rest of your teeth perfectly. So, while the crown itself has the design, it blends seamlessly with your smile until you decide to show it off.

How Does the Process Work?

Here’s how you can get a custom tooth tattoo: Consult Your Dentist:  Your dentist will prepare your tooth for the crown, trimming it to create a solid base. They will take an impression of your tooth and surrounding teeth to ensure a perfect fit. Color Matching:  Your dentist will send the impression, along with the exact color of your surrounding teeth, to Rich, our tooth tattoo artist. This ensures the crown looks natural and matches your other teeth perfectly. Choose Your Design:  You get to choose your tooth tattoo design! We offer samples and are happy to discuss custom ideas to create something uniquely yours. Tattoo Application:  Rich will apply your tattoo design to the crown. This step is done before the crown is placed in your mouth. Final Placement:  Your tattooed crown is sent back to your dentist, who will cement it onto your tooth—just like any other dental crown.

Does It Hurt?

Absolutely not! Getting a tooth tattoo is no more painful than getting a standard dental crown. There’s no inking of your teeth involved—just artistry applied to your custom crown.

What’s the History of Tooth Tattoos?

While modern tooth tattoos are a unique twist on dental art, decorating teeth is nothing new:

  • The Maya civilization: Ancient dentists adorned teeth with gemstones and precious metals.
  • Ancient Japan: Women practiced ohaguro, a beauty regimen that involved staining teeth black to signify elegance and refinement.

How to Care for Your Tooth Tattoo

Your tooth tattoo doesn’t require any special care—just good dental hygiene practices:

  • Brush your teeth twice daily.
  • Floss regularly—it won’t affect your crown.
  • Follow your dentist’s advice for maintaining oral health.
  • If you grind or clench your teeth, consider using a mouth guard to protect your crown.

Tip: The better you care for your teeth, the longer your crown (and tattoo) will last—As long as your crown lasts your tattoo will look great.

Why Get a Tooth Tattoo?

A tooth tattoo is:

  • Personal: A unique way to express yourself.
  • Private: Show it only when you want to.
  • Painless: No more discomfort than a regular crown procedure.
  • Fun: Add a bit of art and personality to your smile!

Whether it’s a hidden symbol, a special memory, or just something playful, a tooth tattoo is a creative way to bring a little extra color to your life. Plus, your mom might even approve—after all, it’s not temporary,  it is painless, and easy to hide!
